CNE sessions were successfully conducted in collaboration with MMU, College of Nursing, Mullana, Ambala, Haryana, under their Faculty Development Program (FDP). The bulk registration process proved very convenient for the participating nursing institution.

CNE course on Care for the Elderly

The percentage of the global population aged 65 and above is expected to rise from 13.9% to about 22% in 2050.

In India, population aged 60 years and above is rising. There is a need to expand and enhance the skilled workforce for geriatric care.

Nurses play a central and multifaceted role in elderly care. Training nurses will overcome the unmet needs of Elderly care and also, open professional opportunities for them as Care providers across hospitals, care homes and home based services.

Objectives

To equip nurses with the knowledge and skills to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care for elderly across diverse settings.

Course details

This course includes the following modules:

  1. Concepts & Principles in caring for the elderly (4 hours)
  2. Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (3 hours)
  3. Management of Chronic conditions and illnesses (4 hours)
  4. Communication with the elderly (3 hours)
  5. Diet and Nutritional needs of the elderly (3 hours)
  6. Home based care: Assisted living and Palliative support (4 hours)
  7. Elder abuse (3 hours)
  8. Managing Mental Health and Geriatric Counselling (3 hours)
  9. Healthy aging (3 hours)

They are supported by National and international experts, including clinicians, geriatricians, Public health experts, counsellors, wellness experts and communication coaches with extensive elderly care experiences.

Each session will be expertly moderated and delivered by this experienced Nurse trainer, ensuring participants gain the maximum benefit from the program.

Training Methodology
  • Module is covered over 2 online sessions of 1-2 hours each, with offline assessments tasks.
  • The sessions are live and interactive. The modules are planned as per the training schedule spread over 2-3 months.
  • The online sessions are on zoom platform. Please download zoom app for access.
Certificate of completion

A soft copy of certificate of Module completion will be awarded to all participants after successful completion of each module. The final certification of CNE hours and credits will be awarded after completion of full course of 9 modules.
